The other day I started thinking about projects. It seems like there’s a never ending list of projects in this house! Handprints and dirty walls = painting project. Tackling the tile in the bathroom=project. Furnishing office walls = Project. Back porch hang out = Project. It seems like everything lately is a project, and in creating all these projects, I create never ending “To do” lists in my head.
One of my favorite things about wall furnishing projects is looking through pictures. I was working on a project for my girls’ room and found some old pictures of my own kids that I hadn’t even edited yet. It made me think about my clients who express how much they love digital files, but make comments that they only print a few. The thing is, we can never print wall portraits of ALL of the pictures we love. If I did that, my house would be wallpapered in images of my kids. Looking back through old digital files that I never printed was fun! I submitted many to the lab to print in 4×5’s to keep in a memory box, as I recommend that my clients do in the event of an unfortunate hard drive failure.
It’s funny because the pictures I sifted through weren’t my favorites at the time because I never had them printed. I was probably critical because Aiden’s hair wasn’t perfect, or Ella wasn’t smiling. Looking back now though, the same pictures brought a smile to my face. THIS is one of the things I love about digital files. Don’t get me wrong, I love to help clients in creating amazing wall art that you will treasure for centuries. One day I’ll show the walls in my home in the chat box because they are covered in giant gallery wraps of my children. However, looking back through the “non favorites” is special too because often times those “non favorites” are the images that captured your sweetie’s personality JUST as they were in that moment….which is what we want to really capture for you as photographers. Memories. Congratulations Lucas family on your perfect little angel!
